Retain sort order when selecting multiple documents or using bulk selection

Client would like the option to control the sort order of items that are selected. For example, when selecting items in a list, the object containing the selection will have them in the order in which they are selected. Client would prefer that items be in the order in which they appear in the list the items are selected from.
