Designer: Cannot use a custom element in a new Tab (page type)

In Designer:
Create a custom element from "sample layout template"
Create a new Tab (page type)
Attempt to use in element binding your custom element OR attempt to create a new element from there
=> It errors or you cannot select the custom element
