Can't create documents in folder attached to task

When viewing a task with a folder attachment, I can't drop/create files in that folder if my "logical" location (e.g. Root)? is a folder to which I don't have write permission. The creation dialog doesn't appear, only a toast message pops up to say I don't have permission. If I drop a file onto a folder listing, I expect it to try and upload to that folder, not complain that I don't have permission on a different folder. How can I use the location of the attached folder to specify the target location for the folder view dropzone and the create button/dialog?

This is required functionality for a POC (and makes good sense generally).
