'UserProfile' document is not created until user accesses his own 'HOME' tab (user center)

The UserProfile document is not created until the user accesses his own 'HOME' tab (user center), which can be problematic for non-JSF/REST-based applications.
Users can be created using a REST endpoint but there is no way to do so for the UserProfile document.
