"wait for execution" flag is ingored upon navigating to search

In the Results tab of a Content View in Studio there is a checkbox called "Wait for execution" which is supposed to suppress the initial query (filter-less) until the user clicks the "filter" button (assuming this CV has been flagged as a "Search Content View")

This option only seems to take effect when the user selects this search by name from the drop-down list of search CV's. But if the user navigates to this search by clicking "search" in the top nav (either because it's the default one, or the last one he/she was using), the query is triggered immediately.
