Main issues:

• in document view, the previous & next buttons could be seens as "back and forth in history"
• previous and next buttons are confusing when coming from the search results, as you see the breadcrumb in the document view
• previous and next buttons are only relevant for folders that contains only documents, not other folders

Approaches:

• previous and next buttons may be displayed on the right side of the toolbar or as big buttons in the center of the page as in NXP-18698 screenshot
• previous and next buttons can be removed when viewing a document from the search results
• when viewing a document from the search results, you should be able to come back to the search results easily with a button if it's not the right document
