Unknown fatal error on macOS VMs on RainForest

Starting Drive will alsmost immediately crash with a cryptic message Illegal instruction: 4. Digging a lot show us this happens within this code in engine/dao/sqlite.py:

self._conn = sqlite3.connect(
    self._db,
    check_same_thread=False,

)

A full crash report is attached. Looking around on forums and websites is not yet helpful.
